Detail / Accuracy / Verification
Precision, with proof.
Level of development describes the information included in a model. Accuracy describes how closely it represents captured conditions. Specify both around the intended use.
One building / Three levels
Compare the Castle.
The same 1896 building documented at LoD 200, 300 and 350. These actual samples show different amounts of modeled information. Your requirements are agreed by element and area.

The Castle / LoD 200, 300 and 350
Define the level of development.
LoD 200
Approximate geometry.
A model with generalized elements for an agreed planning use.
LoD 300
Defined building elements.
Model elements with the specified size, shape, location and orientation for the intended design use.
LoD 350
Selected interfaces.
Additional interfaces and coordination detail where the project scope requires them.
Accuracy belongs in the scope.
Agree the required tolerance, capture coverage, coordinate system and validation method. Registration accuracy and modeling tolerance are separate requirements. A level-of-development label does not replace an accuracy specification. Confirm software version, file formats, model origin, units, drawing views and client templates before the work begins.
Your building / Your next chapter
Start with what's there.
A location. An approximate area. What your team needs to know. Scan2Plan confirms the scope, price and schedule in your proposal.
