Troy, New York / Actual project documentation

The Paine Castle

One historic building. Different levels of understanding.

Actual project documentation

  • Actual detailed BIM interior of the Paine Castle, showing stairs, columns and ceiling

Detail that follows the restoration question.

Scan2Plan selected Paine Castle to demonstrate how its custom geometry could be represented at different levels of development. The restoration called for documentation of a richly detailed historic building, while the comparison showed how the same geometry could also be simplified for an earlier design stage. The published project describes point clouds, models, drawings, 3D tours and renderings supporting the restoration effort. These views show actual project documentation; the comparison illustrates differing model content, not a universal accuracy guarantee.
